Requisites for this module
BA DKAS Stage and Production Management
Students will undertake a minimum of 2 further practical production roles in the areas of Stage and/or Production Management during this module. Roles such as Assistant Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, Stage Manager and Production Manager will enable the student to enhance their managerial skills whilst learning
through practice on a variety of different practical productions.
The aims of this module are to:
Enhance the students' skills in Stage and Production Management
Enhance the students' Management skills
Enhance the students' knowledge of the collaborative Production/Project process in a professional environment
Develop further the students' professionalism in the key skills areas:
Communication, reliability, time management;
Initiative and self-motivation;
Committment and flexibility;
Develop the students Practical Skills in the key areas of:
Quality and finish of practical work;
Attention to detail on practical work;
Management and organisation of the student work environment;
Management and understanding of budgets;
Understanding of Health and Safety
Develop the students' understanding of the importance of reflection and critical thinking
Develop the students' understanding of the importance of documentation and record keeping
The skills application required for Stage and Production Management in a professional environment
The importance of communications and organisation
The production / project process from beginning to completion
The professional and transferable skills required
Research and analytical thinking
Health and Safety
Scheduling and time management
The student becomes increasingly confident and professional in their working methodology and skills application

Small group practical classes, seminars, tutorials, independent work and supervised productions. Students lean through practised based teaching on this module. Small group seminars happen at the beginning of the module to help the student reflect on their previous module (Production Practice 1) and enable them to develop further their managerial skills during this module. Regular tutorials and production based meetings also support the teaching in this module.
