Requisites for this module
BA DKAS Stage and Production Management
Students will undertake a minimum of 2 practical production roles in the areas of Stage and/or Production Management during this module. Roles such as Assistant Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, Stage Manager and Production Manager will enable the student to develop their managerial skills whilst learning through practice on a practical productions.
The aims of the module are to:
Develop the students' skills in the area of Stage and/or Production Management
Develop the student's Management skills
Enhance the students' knowledge of the collaborative Production process in a professional environment.
Develop the students Professionalism in the key skills areas of:
Communication, reliability, time management;
Initiative and self-motivation;
Commitment and flexibility;
Further develop the students' Practical Skills in the key areas of:
Quality and finish of practical work;
Attention to detail on practical work;
Management and organisation of the student work environment;
Management and understanding of budgets;
Understanding of Health and Safety.
Develop the students understanding of the importance of reflection and critical thinking
Develop the students' understanding of the importance of documentation and record keeping
By the end of the module student will have an understanding of:
The skills application required for Stage and Production Management
Management Theory and practice
The importance of communication and organisation
The production/Project process from beginning to completion
The professional and transferable skills required
Research and analytical thinking
Health and Safety
Scheduling and time management
The student becomes increasingly confident and professional in their working methodology and skills application

Small group practical classes, seminars, tutorials, independent work and supervised productions. Students lean through practised based teaching on this module. Small group seminars happen at the beginning of the module to focus the student on the managerial elements of the roles they are undertaking, this is then supported by regular tutorials and production based meetings.
