Module description

- Take on stage management roles within productions with more responsibility
- To develop further their understanding of the production process in a professional environment.
- Develop their use of working with a script as a source for information.
- Develop the ability to interpret Design
- Apply a range of techniques and practical skills when working on a practical productions
- Identify their skills as a Manager
- Develop relevant computer literacy.
- Use appropriate theatre terminology.
- Develop communication and organisational skills
- React positively to changes communicated throughout the rehearsal process.
- Participate further in the rehearsal process, get-ins, fit-ups, strikes and get-outs.
- Develop greater understanding of Health & Safety and the importance of risk assessments

Module aims

The aims of this module are to:
* Develop the students responsibilities within the Stage Management department in the theatre production process
* Develop the students understanding further of the role of the Production Manager within the theatre production process
* Develop the students' understanding of the role of the Manager
* Enhance further practical theory and practice
* Develop students organisational and communication skills, in preparation for undertaking production roles with more responsibility
* Develop students' practical Stage Management skills further, particularly within the roles of Assistant Stage Manager and Deputy Stage Manager.
* Develop further methods of problem solving, negotiation, and personal management;
* Enhance the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
* Further develop the understanding of computer literacy within the area of budget management and spread sheets
* Enhance the students understanding of the importance of Health & Safety and risk assessments

Understanding of:
- The role and responsibilities of the Manager within a production department
- The working practises of the roles of the stage management team within a professional environment.
- The relationship with the creative team
- Enhanced technical methodologies
- Computer literacy and its involvement within the stage and production management departments
- The need for flexibility within a changing production environment
- The collaborative process between technical departments.
- Understand the stamina required within the production process
- Work to deadlines and schedules.
- Show awareness of the requirements of an artistic team throughout the production process.

- Development of use of initiative and working independently
- Show enhanced awareness of Health and Safety and risk assessment procedures.
