Requisites for this module
MENGH613 Electronic Engineering,
MENGH614 Electronic Engineering (Integrated Masters, Including Placement Year),
MENGH642 Communications Engineering
Students will undertake a group project starting from the initial customer specification through to design, construction, testing and delivery. The group project will be undertaken within an industrial context with either a real industrial client, where this is possible, or alternatively an internal client that might be a research group within the department. Part of the module work will be to investigate the context of the project, to understand how the project forms part of the company/research group and how the company/university operates at a wider level.
The aim of this module is to provide students with the opportunity to apply computer science and/or engineering principles and techniques to the solution of a practical problem.
After completing this module students will be expected to have
1. Researched the background and literature relating to a practical problem involving the application of computer science and/or engineering. This will normally reflect the large the large range of outside projects which CSEE is currently involved with.
2. Written a dissertation about their investigation.
3. Given an oral presentation, answered questions about the project, and given a demonstration of their implementation.
All taught course MSc students, who have been successful in their examinations, undertake a project during the Spring term. The project, which must be in an approved area of computer science or electrical engineering, is carried out under the supervision of a member of staff, and leads to a dissertation.
