Module description

This module will provide the practical and theoretical skills needed to understand the design process of embedded systems. Students will define a specification for an embedded system, discuss methods for implementing reliable systems based on a specification requirement and compare and contrast different embedded systems and their suitability to different applications.

The aim of this module is to provide the practical and theoretical skills needed to understand the design process of embedded systems. Students will define a specification for an embedded system, discuss methods for implementing reliable systems based on a specification requirement and compare and contrast different embedded systems and their suitability to different applications.


Module learning outcomes

After completing this module, students will be expected to be able to:

1. Understand the embedded systems design process
2. Define a specification for an embedded system.
3. Design an embedded system based on a specification.
4. Discuss methods for implementing reliable embedded systems to solve various problems.
5. Compare and contrast different options for the realisation of embedded systems and their suitability for their application domain.
