This module will allow students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiology and anatomy of the human body. This will allow students to consider the impact of pathophysiology on structure, function and wellbeing of the individual.
1. To develop knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiology and anatomy of the human body
2. To link this knowledge and understanding to the impact on structure, function and wellbeing of the individual
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key functions of relevant body systems;
2. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the interaction between body systems;
3. demonstrate understanding of the impact of pathological changes in the body systems and the impact on wellbeing;
4. develop an awareness of the spectrum of anatomical and physiological presentations.
Indicative Content:
1. Structure and function of relevant systems
2. Systems pathophysiology in relation to prevalent conditions
3. Inflammation, healing and tissue repair
4. Pain
5. Changes through lifespan
A mixture of seminars, practicals, independent learning and work-based tasks will be used to deliver this module.

Formative assessment: Regular Moodle tests for the MCQ and short answer exam; 500 word plan for the presentation

- Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
- In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
