This module is your final year project. It is a piece of work that you have carried out on your own, on the basis of the groundwork completed during the LT313 Newsroom Practice module.
It should demonstrate your command of all the key elements of the course, evidencing learning and successful practice in terms of defining a news story, gathering information, conducting research, handling data and statistics, newsgathering by means of interviews, reading and other means, and multimedia presentation.
The aim of this module is:
- To allow you to work on your own to show that you have developed the fundamental understanding, skills and techniques that you will need as a working journalist.
By the end of this module, you will have:
1. Used your research and fact-finding skills to find, assess and present original findings in the area of your chosen subject.
2. Used your reporting and interviewing skills to gather further information and opinions about the subject.
3. Used your production skills to record and create content in different media, each of which will contribute to the finished work (see note * below).
4. Created a piece of publishable multimedia work to professional standards, which adds new perspectives or information to the coverage of the story (see note * below).
*As an alternative to 3 and 4, you have the option of presenting your findings in the form of a written 3,000 word dissertation.
No additional information available.
The module will be delivered via:
- One-to-one tutorials with assigned supervisor.
You will be working largely on your own (with a named teaching staff supervisor), and the nature of the work will depend on the project you choose and the way in which you choose to present it.
This module does not appear to have a published bibliography for this year.
