Module description

Advanced Italian is a module designed to consolidate your knowledge by practising listening, reading and speaking skills. We will be working on advanced grammar and vocabulary to help you communicate effectively with native speakers. We will be using a good range of authentic texts such as narrative passages, newspaper articles. We will analyse a range of text types. For the spoken part, you will hgave a scheduled conversation class where you will be able to practice speaking skills and acquire better vocabulary.

Module aims

The aim of this module is for students to reach a language proficiency level of B2 in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).

Module learning outcomes

At the end of the module you should:

Demonstrate the ability to communicate orally with ease and confidence.
Demonstrate the ability to report and summarise for the purpose of discussing and analysing.
Demonstrate awareness of the varieties of spoken and written Italian and registers (e.g. colloquial/casual, formal/consultative) and use them appropriately.
Demonstrate the ability to use fairly correct language and its structures.
Demonstrate awareness of some aspects of current Italian affairs through familiarity with contemporary articles or debates on social media.
