This MFA second year acting module focuses on acting for camera, radio and voiceover. It also looks at writing and creating show reel and voice reel material designed to enhance the students` employability.
You will be working with professional practitioners with a wide experience in film-making, radio and voiceovers including directing, producing and development. You will be asked to propose ideas for film show reel and voice reel material. These can be existing film or television scripts, adaptations of scripts originally for theatre, as well as original ideas you have written specifically for this project.
Proposals will be selected and taken through a process of development suitable for short film, radio and voice reel material. It will follow with crewing and casting for the film element and recording in the Radio Studio in collaboration with technical members of staff.
The project consists of three weeks of development, filming and editing, and one week of recording and producing sound material for show reels and voice reels. You will have the opportunity to experience various roles in filming such as acting in films, writing, editing and crewing, as well as microphone technique and acting for radio and voiceover.
The final product will be individual show reel and voice reel material for each student.
The aims of the module are:
1. To create individual short film show reels. For use in post-training employment
2. To create individual short voice reels. For use in post-training employment
3. To provide experience in acting for camera and microphone.
4. To develop students’ ability to operate as members of a company – as both actors and makers.
5. To analyse and understand expectations of film, radio and voiceover work
On successful completion of the module, students should gain:
1. Expansion of acting skills - stretching and widening acting abilities in different media
2. Skills integration - ability to utilise varied disciplines within the context of film, voiceovers and radio
3. Creativity - innovative responses to task and to opportunity

Verbal formative assessment and tutor feedback is given in group sessions
Students receive written summative assessment and tutor comments at the end of the module.
