Key module for

MA W41012 Acting

Module description

MA Acting students may opt to undertake a 60-credit practical Performance Project instead of the written dissertation option. For this module, students are expected to divide themselves into groups in order to produce performance work of a professional standard from their own resources and research.

Students opting to undertake the Performance Project will be required to submit a performance project outline in Term Two which must be approved by the Head of Course before proceeding with the project. This may take the form of a showing of work in progress and a discussion taking feedback and aspiration into account.
Students will research and work on their practical projects throughout Terms Two and Three, with an intensive period of performance preparation in Term Three.

Performance Projects will be presented in Term Three in the School's Corbett Theatre and/or at other appropriate venues. Verbal feedback in group sessions and individual assessment with the leading tutor or mentor will be given following the performances. Some performances will be recorded for feedback and assessment purposes.

Throughout this process, students are required to keep a Reflective Journal in which they reflect on their research and rehearsal process. The content should outline the research and include bibliographic presentation of any texts referred to as well as process and methodology used, problems encountered and strategies subsequently employed. Journals are to be submitted for assessment after the completion of performances, normally no later than the end of September.
