BA W494 Acting and Physical Theatre
By the final year of the BA Hons Physical Theatre programme students are considered ready to be performers. The work of skills classes in Terms One and Two of the final year are, therefore, focussed on students' professional development. The work of this compulsory final year module consists of regular studio classes:
- to deal with any on-going problems in building of professional level competence in skills such as contemporary dance, stage combat, voice and music/singing
- for show preparation and preparation of audition pieces
- to establish development and practice of specific, non-standard warm-ups for a range of rehearsal and performance preparation
The aims of the module are:
- To prepare students for the vocal and physical demands of a professional career using physical performance.
- To encourage students to take full responsibility for their own technical skills choices in rehearsal and performance.
- To support students in production work and preparation for professional auditions.
By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to demonstrate:
- Technical integration of voice, movement and music/singing skills
- Ability to take responsibility for development of own technical skills
- Self-reliant and developed ability to work in ensemble
- Objective critical analysis and self-assessment of technical skills choices
