Module description

During this module you will perform plays from a range of 20th Century and classic works to extend your performance repertoire.

Plays are directed by a mixture of East 15 and visiting staff, thus providing you with opportunities to experience contrasting production methods and new stimuli from outside professionals.

The work of the module encourages you to adapt to production procedures beyond your experiences at East 15 Acting School.

Module aims

1. To provide students with the opportunities to perform to a wider public audience
2. To identify, extend and consolidate students’ acting strengths under the pressure of a full production
3. To expose students to a range of working methods form visiting directors.

Module learning outcomes

At the end of this module you will be able to demonstrate:

1. Heightened ability to perform to an audience
2. Ability to express and develop advanced acting skills as part of a public presentation
3. Sustain character within the demands of the full range of technical aspects of a show
4. Synthesis of technique and individuality in performance
5. Communicate confidently and expressively to an audience with appropriate emotion, characterisation and spontaneity

Learning and teaching methods

- Supervised and unsupervised rehearsals with directors' notes - Students will be individually tutored according to their particular needs - Verbal feedback and formative assessment are given throughout the process of performance preparation - Students will receive written reports at the end of the term with summative assessment and directors comments.

- Continuous assessment of contribution to the production process - The productions are given a run of performances and these form the basis for assessment. Assessment is based on the extent to which students are able to demonstrate the module Learning Outcomes. - Compliance with the Professional Code of Coduct

Exam format definitions

  • Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
  • In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
  • In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
  • In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary, for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
