MFA W4P312 Acting for Digital Media
This module will present further workshops in a range of skills that will support your growth and employability across a range of subjects. These workshop sessions will be led by both the faculty team and by visiting professional in areas related to the core modules of training. There will be a wide range of material covered, frequently updated to accord with developments in the performance industry Supporting your development as a motion capture artist, you will explore further In-game techniques for both film and videogames (which may include elements of puppetry and military styles). There will be additional movement sessions in animal work using props and stilts. Building on the information from year one, you will receive more detailed knowledge about how to customise your home studio and the range of software available to enhance the workplace. You will continue to work on your techniques for casting and self-taping, building on the foundation built in Year One. There will be further seminars on the industry practice, relating to the learning on the other modules in the MFA as well as further advice and support on editing
The aims of this module are:
- To develop strategies and tactics towards gaining employment in the professional industry.
- To develop a range of skills to a high professional standard, ready to contribute as an artist across a range of media.
- To develop the ability to engage with auditions, casting and self-tapes in a creative and professional manner.
- To develop advanced technical skills than support project creation and self-marketing.
- To support the transition from education to employment.
- To increase your range of skills to prepare you for a wider range employability prospects.
By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to:
- Develop a high level of confidence in how to maximise the effectiveness of a home studio and related equipment and software.
- Build up more advanced skills in editing to be able edit showreels and more artistically driven, filmed work.
- To have strategies and a practice in order to confidently audition for a wide variety of projects across all recorded mediums.
- Build further understanding in best codes of practice in film and performance capture.
- Gain a more in-depth physical vocabulary of creating specific characters that may be encountered when engaged in performance capture, using props and limb extenders.
