Module description

This module provides an understanding of the techniques used in the development of software for a variety of embedded systems, and the implications for real-world and real-time design.

The aim of this module is:


To provide students with an understanding of the techniques used in the development of software for embedded systems.

Module learning outcomes

By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to:



  1. Explain and apply the various aspects of an embedded system towards real-world problems.

  2. Design real-time software for embedded systems in real-world applications.

  3. Develop and evaluate interfaces of advanced embedded processors.

  4. Design, program and evaluate single-core and multi-core embedded systems.
