Module description

This module shows how ICT systems support an organisation. It includes lifecycle and process issues in the context of information systems. Students will compare and contrast different technologies and techniques to assess the quality of systems.

Module aims

The aims of this module are to introduce students to how ICT systems can be managed, and how business applications can be integrated. The taught theory will be complimented by 'guest' lecturers from industry who will set the theory into a real life context.

Module learning outcomes

On completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. Show how ICT systems can support an organisation.
2. Discuss lifecycle and software process issues in the context of particular information systems.
3. Compare and contrast different methods and techniques used to assure the quality of systems.
4. Create visual representations of business processes.

  • In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
  • In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary, for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
