Module description

This module will provide students with an introduction to the principles and technology that underlie internet applications and the techniques used in the design and construction of web sites. This will include the design and construction of web pages using HTML and CSS; the implementation of a website using server-side scripting; the access of a database from the website; and understand issues such as security and usability.

Module aims

The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to the principles and technology that underlie internet applications and the techniques used in the design and construction of web sites.

Module learning outcomes

After completing this module, students will be expected to be able to:

1. design and construct interactive Web pages using HTML and CSS
2. implement a website using server-side scripting.
3. access a database from the website.
4. comment on issues such as security and usability.
