This module enables students to take part in a Live Employer Project, meaning they will be working on a task set by an organisation. Placements will either come via the central University placement team or links to the innovation centre. The module focuses on real live exposure to business practices. The focus of each project will be unique and be suitable for the level of study the student is at.
Students will work in small teams to complete the project.
Please note when choosing this module through eNROL students should identify another module should they not be successful in securing a placement.
The aims of this module are:
- To enable students to experience working with an organisation
- To enable students to put into practice knowledge covered in their degree
- To enable students to reflect on their own learning journey and understanding where they might want to aim next.
By the end of this module, students will be expected to be able to:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to solve an organisation’s business problem through working in teams and delivering on aims and objectives of individual project.
- Understand how to identify and critically evaluate appropriate theories and framework from their degree in order to help solve the business problem encountered in their project
- Reflect on the role the specific project plays in the broader business practice of the organisation they are working within

Syllabus information
Projects supervisors will give readings as appropriate and meet the students three times of the course of the project.
This module will be delivered via:
A live employer project working in groups, supervised by a member of academic staff. There will be three 1 hour workshops timetable in term weeks 2, 5 and 7, or week 17, 21, 23.
Students will spend 15 hours a week on this project of which 5 should be working in teams and 10 individual study, though this may vary slightly depending on the needs of the project.

- Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
- In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary,
for example, may be permitted in an otherwise closed book exam. Any exceptions will be specified by your department.
