MA V356PP Curating with Professional Placement
This full-year module prepares students who will undertake a professional placement towards the end of their first year.
Students are responsible for securing the placement, and this module is part of the support arrangement. It is a zero-credit module. However, completion is compulsory for those wanting to undertake a placement.
The aims of this module are:
- To enable students to develop their CV and speculative application letters for a professional placement.
- To put the steps in place to go on a professional placement and to secure that placement.
By the end of this module, students will be expected to:
- Be well-prepared to apply for professional placements.
- Be well-equipped to make the most out of the professional placement
This module will help students prepare for a professional placement and lead them through the steps involved in developing their cv, putting together application letters and securing their placement/s.
Syllabus
- Introduction Meeting (1 hour) - Work Based Learning Manager and Module Supervisor (Week 2)
Structure, fees, expectations, responsibilities, resources available, questions and concerns
- CV and letter writing workshop (1 hour) Work Based Learning Manager (Week 4)
- Assessment - submit CV and letter/s (Week 5)
- Check in meeting (1 hour) - Work Based Learning Manager and Module Supervisor
Feedback on CV and letters, good practice, finding a placement, choices and options, coordinated approach etc. (Week 6)
- Check in (1 hour) - Module Supervisor - Progress and options, arrangements (Week 10)
- Check in Meeting (1 hour) -Work Based Learning Manager - What happens next? Have or haven't got a placement. (Week 17)
- Informal check ins throughout spring term on progress with finding placement/s
This is a non-standard module, which combines a range of timetabled meetings with a workshop.
