Study with us

Maths Scholarships

Our Department offers scholarships for talented undergraduate and postgraduate students. These range from £250 to £6,000 and have various criteria. A bursary is also available to undergraduates who make us their first choice on their UCAS form.

A surprisingly creative discipline which underpins and impacts just about everything, Maths at Essex isn't what you'd expect.

Our undergraduate courses help you understand the why as well as the how of mathematics and related subjects, and you can tailor your studies to your own interests with an exciting independent project in your final year.

Study abroad and placement years

You have the option, with all our courses, to spend your third year studying abroad with no tuition fees for that year - a great way to boost your CV and confidence.

Many of our courses have a placement year option, so you can spend your third year working in a relevant industry or gain experience with a shorter summer placement. Previous students and alumni have worked in companies including AXA and Expedia among others.

Enhance your career prospects

Whatever you choose, our careers and employability module will help you build confidence in yourself and your subject, hone your interview skills, and ensure you're in the best position to pursue your chosen career or academic path when you graduate.

Our students' wellbeing is our highest priority, and we have an open-door policy.

UG Open Days

Book a place at our undergraduate Open Day. Our department and admissions staff can answer any questions you have, and you can speak to current students about life at Essex while taking a campus tour.
