LaTeX for Linguists, .dvi, .ps, .pdf, TestFile]
Many of the packages described here are available at some standard FTP and WWW
sites.
- Ling-Tex: there is a mailing list ling-tex@ifi.uio.no for
linguist-users of TeX and LaTeX, and an associated
web page
which contains lots of useful information.
- There is an inventory of LaTeX tools etc. for dealing with linguistic
structures due to Ch. Thiele. It is somewhat dated (last update 1994), but still
very useful. It can be found in the standard CTAN archives, (e.g.
http://www.tex.ac.uk/, in http://www.tex.ac.uk/info/ling-mac.tex).
It is also available here, in various formats.
- the Institute of Formal & Applied Linguistics of Charles University
Prague maintains a list of LaTeX packages relevant for linguists:
http://kwetal.ms.mff.cuni.cz/~gj/latex.html.
- TeX/LaTeX information for linguists from University of Pennsylvania:
http://www.ling.upenn.edu/advice/latex.html.
- The LaTeX resources page for linguistics/computational linguistics's
listing of sites (by Geert-Jan Kruijff):
http://kwetal.ms.mff.cuni.cz/~gj/latex.html.
- Chris Manning's LaTeX page:
http://nlp.stanford.edu/~manning/tex/.
- If you are interested in doing high quality bibliographies or
lists of references,
Committee of Editors of Linguistics Journals
has a page with recommendations for a unified style sheet for typesetting
linguistic bibliographies, and a
unified bibtex style file (unified.bst).
- Francis Bond has a page describing
(Computational) Linguistic Style Guidelines. You
may find this especially useful if you
are new to the discipline, and find some of the conventions a
bit odd. Or if you just want to make your stuff sound and look
more professional.
- LaTeX for Logicians: while not specifically about linguistics, LaTeX
for Logicians contains much useful information (e.g. about type setting Natural
Deduction proofs, as used in Categorial Grammar):
http://www.phil.cam.ac.uk/teaching_staff/Smith/LaTeX/.
