Hong Kong Scholarship

The University is awarding undergraduate scholarships of £3,000 to students entering the University for the first time in 2020.

Eligibility

You must meet all of the following conditions:

• have received an offer of admission for entry to the University of Essex for 2020-21
• have registered for a full-time undergraduate degree* at the University of Essex with first enrolment at the University of Essex in 2020-21
• Applicants must actively make Essex their firm choice by 18 September 2020**
• be in your first year of study at the University at the start of the award
• these scholarships are restricted to applicants who are classified as international students for fees purposes, are permanently resident in Hong Kong
• Successful applicants should be available for promotional activities

*Courses leading to the award of a Diploma of Higher Education, Foundation Degree, Bachelors Degree, Integrated Masters (four years.)

**This includes applicants who apply to the University through the UCAS Clearing process.

Students who aren't eligible

You are not eligible for the award, even if you meet the criteria above, if you fall into any of the following categories:

• you are on a Higher/Degree Apprenticeship course
• your course is at East 15 Acting School
• you are directly continuing from one course to another (for example, from foundation degree or HND on to the final year of an honours degree)
• you are transferring into the second year from another UK higher education institution
• you are fully or partly sponsored.

If you achieve the necessary grades and meet all other eligibility criteria you will be notified from August onwards. You do not need to complete an application form.
