Promoting gender equality

The Athena SWAN Charter recognises and encourages employment practices that promote gender equality for all. Originally aimed at women's progression in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM), Athena SWAN now extends to gender equality in arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law (AHSSBL), and professional services departments.

Our aim is to have all departments holding Athena SWAN Bronze awards by 2019-20.
