Optical Fibre Laser AnalysisFigure: 1. A nano-positioning fibre-optic semiconductor device testing platform. Designed for testing edge emitting lasers, SOAs and VCSELs samples. It has a 50 nm positioning accuracy. Figure: 2. This platform is associated with a Thermal Electric Cooling (TEC) system. ![]() Figure: 3. The alternative platform on the left is suitable for high power pumped lasers. ![]() Figure: 3.1. A closer look ![]() Figure: 4. The current experiment is analyses a Top Hat Hellish device (THH), with consists of short n and longer p channel biased at the same potential on one edge and grounded on the others. This device can emit and absorb light at the same time. Hence, it could be used as a wavelength converter. The experiment of absorption is through a HeNe Laser light source, which is coupled into a fiber and light detection is via an optic fibre to the cylinder-like photomultiplier. THH device is light sensitive. Working in the darkness gives promissing results. ![]() Figure: 5. A schematic of THH experiment showing two fibers fixed on the v-groove holder which are responsible for light detection and absorption operations. ![]() More information about THH can be found here |
