01 June 2017: Present around the World competition

Earlier this month, young researchers at CSEE took part in the “Present around the World” competition. This was an opportunity for the researchers to develop their presentation skills. The competitors each made a 10 minute presentation on a technological subject of their own choice to an audience and judges. The competition was sponsored and organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The competition was won by PhD student Andrew Starkey, who made a talk on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on society, where he attempted to reassure us that the benefits of AI outweigh the risks. The competition’s runner up was PhD student Raluca Gaina who gave a talk on automatic video game players. Andrew Starkey was judged the regional winner of the IET competition and will progress to a national round.
