Graduate profiles

Our graduates acquire exceptional skills during their time at Essex and have gained jobs with a wide variety of top employers. IT graduates are in high demand and our graduate profiles demonstrate the versatility of the qualifications that we offer.

Computing and electronics are major industries both in the UK and across the globe and demand for graduates of these disciplines is outstripping supply. We regularly update our courses to keep up with current trends in the sector and ensure that our graduates have the skills that employers are looking for. As well as technical knowledge, you will leave Essex with transferable skills such as communication, team-working, analytical and numerical skills, time management and project management.

Most of our undergraduate courses give you the option of spending a year on an industrial placement or studying abroad, which can make you stand out from the crowd in the graduate job market.

All our students complete a capstone project in their final year, which you can hear more about in the video below:

Professional accreditation

Many of our courses are accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS) and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). We encourage our students to become members of both organisations, and their accreditation of our courses gives you an accelerated pathway to full membership after you graduate.

Diverse career options

Our graduates have been very successful in finding employment as systems analysts, software engineers, programmers and electronic design engineers. Some of the companies and organisations where our former students are now employed include:

  • IBM
  • BT
  • EDS
