Study abroad

BA Art History student, Denis Bilo, shares his study abroad experiences.

Time abroad at no extra cost

If you’ve got the Essex spirit of adventure, you’re probably as crazy about travel as we are. So, for entry in 2017, you can study abroad. for a full academic year, as part of your Essex degree at no extra cost.

We give you the opportunity to make your friends at home jealous with snaps of new food and faraway places, to immerse yourself in another culture, and to prove that you’ve got the inquisitive, independent, able-to-cope-with-anything attitude that employers love.

Funding

Every year we award over £500,000 in study abroad grants and scholarships. You could study for a term or a year at a partner university, undertake a language teaching assistantship, or work on research overseas.

Destinations

We have over 170 study abroad partner institutions throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Pacific, and North and South America.

What our students say

"I geared up to move 10,000 miles away from home for an entire year, an absolutely terrifying decision which gave me one of the best life experiences I have had thus far."
