How to apply for accommodation

Our award-winning accommodation provides the perfect base from which to enjoy your life at Essex.

It is important that you apply for accommodation as soon as you are able to. Between 26 August and 8 October, new undergraduates can still apply for accommodation using the myEssex applicant portal. Although the date by which we guarantee campus accommodation has passed (25 August), our team will still be able to help you. If we are not able to offer you campus accommodation we will put you in contact with StudentLets, a property finding service run by our Students' Union.

Application process

You can apply for accommodation once your status in UCAS Track has changed to either 'UF' or 'CF'. You should then:

  1. check out our accommodation options and facilities
  2. register your myEssex applicant portal account as soon as possible after your status changes - it can take 24-48 hours after registering before you can apply for accommodation
  3. log in to the portal
  4. go to the Living section and look for the Accommodation heading, under which you'll find a link to the accommodation application form

Timescales and deadlines

Register your myEssex portal account as soon as you can, as it can take between 24 to 48 hours for the relevant data to be imported into the accommodation application system and you won't be able to apply before the data transfer has taken place.
